INVESTMENT
RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE FACILITY
WITH PRIVATE ENSUITES
What we're building
The project will deliver:
- a new co-located 24-bed residential aged care and acute facility, with 16 aged care beds and eight acute beds
- single rooms with private ensuites
- flexible shared spaces and common areas
- features to support a range of complex care needs and mobility, including those living with dementia.
Benefits
The new Cohuna aged care facility aims to achieve the following benefits:
Specialist care
The new residential aged care facility will improve access to high quality facilities and care. It will meet a range of complex needs so residents can age in place as their health needs increase.
A home-like environment
Residents will have improved privacy and independence with single rooms and ensuites. Flexible shared spaces within the design will give residents options – from socialising with other residents, visitors and family members to simply sitting on their own.
Safe living and working conditions
The new facility will benefit both staff and residents with better and safer living and working conditions.
Closer to home
Greater access to high-quality care in Cohuna means older people won’t have to move away to access care. Residents will be close to their support networks and will be able to maintain family and community connections.
New construction jobs
At the peak of construction, the project is expected to create and sustain more than 100 construction industry jobs.
Partners
This project is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with:
- Cohuna District Hospital
- ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects
- Introba Engineers.
