URGENT CARE
NEW TREATMENT AREAS
COWES LOCATION
Scope
The urgent care centre includes:
- four new patient bays, which include a new resuscitation bay and a new closed patient bay with ensuite
- a staff base
- pharmacy storage
- clean and dirty area storage
- new triage desk.
Benefits
The Phillip Island Health Hub urgent care centre aimed to achieve the following benefits:
Delivering urgent care, locally
The addition of urgent care facilities will further reduce pressure on Bass Coast Health’s emergency department at Wonthaggi Hospital by giving people an alternative to going to an emergency department for non-emergency care.
Expanded services
The existing triage service for treatment of minor illness and injuries has been expanded by the inclusion of a resuscitation bay, closed patient bay and two standard patient bays to assist with a patient's immediate treatment.
Planning for the future
These newly delivered services are the first part of the transformation of the Phillip Island Health Hub into a new flagship community hospital, which will provide more access to in-demand services, closer to home.
