Casey Hospital emergency department expansion

Location 62-70 Kangan Drive, Berwick, Victoria, 3806, Australia

The Victorian Government is expanding the capacity of the emergency department at Casey Hospital.

The expansion will support the treatment of an extra 52,000 presentations each year.

The expansion is part of a $280 million investment to boost the capacity of the emergency departments at both Casey Hospital and Werribee Mercy Hospital.

Children’s emergency department

Casey Hospital is one of five Victorian public hospitals set to provide a specially designed children’s emergency department zone.

These areas are designed to provide children with a private, calm and compassionate environment and to help meet increasing demand for paediatric emergency care.

The expanded emergency department is expected to open in 2027.

Children’s emergency departments will also be delivered at the Northern, Frankston and Maroondah hospitals along with University Hospital Geelong.
