Scope
The expanded Casey Hospital emergency department is expected to provide:
- immediate care cubicles
- short stay beds
- resuscitation bays
- ambulatory care
- procedure rooms
- consult/interview rooms
- behavioural health assessment unit
- satellite imaging.
To enable construction of the expanded emergency department, Monash Health will deliver a new carpark. Car park works are expected to begin in 2024.
Together with the expansion of Werribee Mercy Hospital emergency department, the Project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs during peak construction.

More capacity
The expansion of Casey Hospital’s emergency department aims to meet the needs of the growing population of Melbourne’s south east.
Emergency care
The expansion will enable more than 52,000 extra presentations each year while also improving patient flow, safety and quality of care.
Improved staff and patient safety
New treatment spaces will improve patient care in the hospital emergency department while also supporting a safer and more efficient working environment for staff.
More jobs
Together with the expansion of Werribee Mercy Hospital emergency department, the Project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs during peak construction. Additional health sector jobs will also be created to operate the expanded emergency department.
