Wangaratta Hospital redevelopment

Location 35-47 Green Street, Wangaratta, Victoria, 3677, Australia

The $22.9 million redevelopment of Wangaratta Hospital was completed in December 2022.

Funded via the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the expansion is helping meet the growing demand for healthcare services in northeast Victoria.

The redevelopment delivered a 12-bed intensive care unit and an eight-bed short stay unit. The emergency department was expanded to include more treatment spaces, an isolation room and a behavioural assessment room.

The project added a new eight-bed paediatric ward with ensuites and parent accommodation. A new medical ward with 11 extra medical beds was also built, to create two 20-bed inpatient units.

The $790 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest grant program of its kind in Victoria. It provides vital government funding to rural and regional public health and residential aged care services across Victoria. This funding enables these services to continue to provide safe and efficient care to local communities.
