The Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority is pleased to advise that site preparation works for the New Footscray Hospital have begun, ahead of construction starting soon.
What's happening?
In preparation for construction starting soon, 2.7-metre-high hoarding is being constructed around the perimeter of the new Footscray Hospital site.
Works are taking place on the Federal and Tiernan Street boundaries first, followed by the Geelong and Ballarat Road boundaries. There may be some changes to pedestrian movements so please follow any signage in place for your safety.
How long will the works take?
It’s expected the hoarding works will be complete within the next five weeks. Works will take place Monday to Friday, 7.00 am - 5.00 pm and Saturday, 9.00 am - 3.00 pm.
Is this the start of construction of the new Footscray Hospital?
No, this is only site preparation works. Construction of the new hospital will begin following Contract Award which is still on track for early 2021.
Will there be impacts to car parking?
The Victorian University Footscray Park campus car park is now closed. Victoria University is developing alternative car parking solutions for its staff and students. Please visit their website at vu.edu.au/parking for further information.
