A bigger, better emergency department for Swan Hill District Health

The Victorian Government is investing $18.7 million to redevelop the Swan Hill District Health emergency department.

The funding will bring the total investment in the project to $48.7 million, with the Federal Government contributing $30 million towards the redevelopment.

This funding will enable Swan Hill District Health to upgrade the emergency department with a new high-quality clinical environment that reflects contemporary models of care.

Once completed, the new emergency department will:

  • meet future community demand
  • enhance quality of care
  • provide shorter waiting times.

The bigger and better emergency department will ensure Victorians living in the Loddon Mallee and surrounds have access to world-class healthcare.

The project will also provide employment opportunities for the local community, with up to 145 jobs created during the peak of construction.

Construction will begin in 2022 and the redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2024.

We are delivering the project in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Health and Swan Hill District Health.
