More surgeries, sooner. That’s the brighter future for Colac patients thanks to new State Government funds to upgrade critical air conditioning and sterilisation equipment at Colac Area Health.
The funding boost, provided through the Government’s $200 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, will be used to buy the latest technology in medical equipment sterilisation and air conditioning systems suitable for use in operating theatres.
The hospital’s Central Sterile Service Department, where instruments are cleaned and sterilised will benefit from a major upgrade, while other upgrades will see better air conditioning and reverse osmosis water filtration systems installed in the hospital’s operating theatre.
The upgrade is a welcome support for the remarkable work performed by Colac doctors and nurses, and will enable them to deliver safer and better care, while also meeting increasing demand for surgical services in the area. The latest investment builds on the Victorian Government’s $25.6 million investment in Colac Area Health in 2017/2018 financial year – a three per cent increase from last year.
