Communities share their views to shape community hospital services

Please note: As of 1 February 2021, the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority (VHHSBA) became the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA).

Please note: The survey referenced in this article has closed.

More than 110 people came together on Saturday 14 September to share valuable knowledge and experience that will shape the services provided at 10 new community hospitals.

The community consultative committee members met for the first time as part of an insightful community hospitals induction day, sharing views that will be used to develop the new facilities.

The community consultative committee members include local MP (chairs) and representatives from major healthcare providers, social services, the Aboriginal community and community members selected through an independent expressions of interest process.

Their feedback is part of a wider engagement process with communities.

About community hospitals

Community hospitals are totally new facilities that are being developed to expand Victoria’s current public hospital network. They’ll provide a wide range of walk-in, community health and social services for patients, under one roof and close to home.

Help shape your local community hospital

The Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority wants to hear from those who use health services as it begins to plan how to deliver community hospitals to provide a better patient experience.

You can provide information about how you access health services through an EngageVic survey which closes 6.00pm on Monday 28 October 2019.

Next steps

Current health and social service providers will take part in a service model design workshop in November to further develop the service model that will underpin the community hospitals. The service model is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2020.
