Construction begins on new Bacchus Marsh ambulance branch

Better, safer, faster emergency care - that’s the future for Bacchus Marsh and Moorabool Shire communities with the first sod turned on the site of a new, state-of-the-art ambulance branch due to open in late 2019.

The new development is part of the Ambulance Victoria Capital Upgrades Project, a State Government commitment to upgrade and rebuild high priority ambulance stations across the state. The 2018–19 State Budget included a record investment of $1.08 billion in health and ambulance services, designed to provide better, safer services for Victorians wherever they live.

Replacing the ageing branch, the new Bacchus Marsh purpose-built facility will feature a five-bay garage, rest and recline areas, training rooms, modern amenities and a fully fitted-out kitchen. The new ambulance station will be large enough to accommodate existing paramedics, as well as providing room for potential growth with additional restrooms and expanded facilities.

The rollout of ambulance station rebuilds and upgrades continues at a steady pace across Victoria, with construction commencing at sites in Terang and Port Fairy and building well underway at Swan Bay, Tatura and Winchelsea.

The important work of the Ambulance Victoria Capital Upgrades Project will help ensure that paramedics are provided with modern facilities and the right tools, which in turn will assist in improved response times to support and care for their local communities now and into the future.
