Consultants appointed to design major expansion of Maryborough Hospital

Architectural firm Silver Thomas Hanley has been appointed to design the $100 million expansion of Maryborough Hospital.

With a new purpose-built facility constructed to the south of the existing hospital, the project will deliver:

  • a new urgent care centre
  • a 32-bed inpatient unit
  • two operating theatres and recovery spaces
  • a day medical centre with imaging and pathology services.

New birthing suites will mean more women can give birth in Maryborough, close to their family and home.

When completed, Maryborough’s new facilities mean more than 4,000 extra patients can be treated every year. Construction is expected to start in early 2023 and be completed by late 2024.

The project is expected to create and sustain around 330 construction industry jobs.
