Creswick Nursing Home upgrade on track

The $3.2 million upgrade of the Creswick Nursing Home near Ballarat is on track for completion.

Funded through the Victorian Government’s $350 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, a major feature of the upgrade is construction of a modern, purpose-built 12-bed unit to support residents with dementia.

'Dementia enabling design supports the residents to live their best life. It’s about moving safely in corridors that take you to a place of purpose. It’s about texture, light – it’s about living spaces and outdoor areas that are safe and easy to access.'
Debra Bevern, Nurse Unit manager at Creswick Nursing Home

The upgrade will also deliver improvements to the existing facility, including a consolidation and refurbishment of common areas, and improved heating and cooling systems.

The project has delivered local jobs for the community. Craig Jenkins of builders S.J. Weir says, 'Our tradespeople are all from the Ballarat area. You have a true local business supporting local businesses, putting money back into the local economy.'

Note: This video was filmed before 2 August 2020, when face coverings were made mandatory for people living in Victoria.
