Designs released and construction begins for Victoria’s first Statewide Child and Family Centre

Designs have been released, a builder has been appointed and construction is underway on Victoria’s first child and family mental health centre.

The new $7.3 million, 12-bed facility will provide specialised mental health care and wellbeing services to children aged 0 to 11 years, alongside their families.

The designs show the facility’s exteriors, grounds and internal fit-outs, which have been carefully considered to create a safe, welcoming, and healing atmosphere for children and their families on their mental health journey.

Building Engineering has been appointed to construct the facility, which is on track to be completed later this year.

The new centre will include:

  • private rooms
  • shared living spaces including a kitchen, dining, lounge, and laundry
  • family activity areas
  • outdoor garden areas
  • clinical consulting areas.

About the Statewide Child and Family Centre

The new centre will be located in Macleod and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Up to three families will be able to stay onsite while they receive flexible, family-centred therapy and support from specialist clinicians.
