Designs revealed for Latrobe Regional Hospital expansion

Artist impressions have been revealed for the next stage of the Latrobe Regional Hospital expansion.

The $217 million expansion will ensure we meet the increasing demand for healthcare in the Latrobe Valley.

The designs reveal a first look at the maternity unit, which will be expanded with two new birthing suites, six new maternity beds, six special care nursery cots and a kids play area, ensuring more local mothers can give birth closer to home.

This expansion will also deliver three new operating theatres, 44 new beds and an extra 14 new medical and surgical beds to deliver even more surgeries. It will provide up to 6,200 more elective surgeries every year and cut waiting times.

There will also be six new intensive care beds, an additional emergency department bay and 227 new car parking spaces.

The project will create 600 construction jobs and is expected to be completed in 2023.

This next stage follows on from the completion of stages 1 and 2 of the Latrobe Regional Hospital expansion.
