The new inpatient tower at Goulburn Valley Health Shepparton Hospital has been fast-tracked with construction completed eight weeks ahead of schedule.
The Victorian Health and Human Service Building Authority has been working with Goulburn Valley Health and construction partners to accelerate the works.
The new inpatient tower will include:
- 10 critical care unit beds
- 64 inpatient beds
- eight new operating theatres
- a new kitchen.
The new tower is part of the $229.3 million redevelopment of Goulburn Valley Health which was fast-tracked to ensure the health service had sufficient capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goulburn Valley Health has also adapted the new emergency department, which was completed in February 2020, to provide more intensive care services.
The hospital now has additional capacity so all Victorians can get the help that they need, closer to home.
