Health services share $20 million in funding for new surgical equipment

Thirty-five Victorian health services are sharing $20.25 million in funding from our Surgical Equipment Innovation Fund.

The funding will upgrade and replace 178 items of medical equipment at busy hospitals across the state.

From Melbourne to Ballarat and Shepparton to the Bass Coast, the Fund was established to ensure health services can upgrade their surgical equipment and diagnostic machines with the latest technology to help get more patients into surgery.

  • Thirteen metropolitan health services are sharing more than $7 million in funding.
  • Twenty-two regional health services are sharing more than $11.5 million in funding.

Surgical equipment and diagnostic machines funded through the program include:

  • anesthetic machines
  • colonoscopes
  • endoscopes
  • gastroscopes
  • instrument sets
  • laparoscopes
  • lasers
  • microspores
  • monitors
  • operating tables
  • sterilisers
  • trolleys
  • ultrasound units.
