About the new facility

The multi-storey facility is located in Cheltenham. It will provide modern single rooms with private ensuite bathrooms, in an environment that feels like home.

There will be spaces for social interactions between residents, families and the community. These will include:

  • a community room,
  • reflection space,
  • other common areas.

Safe, comfortable and home-like

The facility has been carefully designed to create a safe, comfortable and home-like feel for residents. It will provide a modern and efficient working environment for staff.

The surrounding natural environment will feature in the design. Residents will have access to open area views, terraces, gardens, and lots of natural light.

A ‘pandemic mode’ ventilation and air-conditioning system will be included. When needed, this will help contain the spread of infectious airborne particles by exhausting all air externally from an infected space. The system will provide 100 per cent fresh air to isolated areas.

Delivering care and support for older Victorians

The facility will be operated and staffed by Monash Health. It will have easy access to a broad range of integrated aged care services, including:

  • cognitive dementia and memory services
  • clinics for falls and balance.

The redevelopment is on track to be completed in 2025.
