Melton residents can now access high quality community health, mental health and family services under one roof with the Melton Health and Community Services health hub now open.
The $21 million centre increases the local community’s access to high quality and timely services by integrating a range of community health and welfare organisations including Djerriwarrh Health Services, Melbourne Health-Midwest Area Mental Health Service, MacKillop Family Services, cohealth and Odyssey House Victoria.
These organisations will work together and deliver a broad range of treatment and support such as women’s, children’s and family services, Aboriginal health, chronic disease prevention and early intervention, mental health, and alcohol and drug services.
'The collaboration between the partner organisations will allow for a seamless transition of care between services which reduces the barriers to accessing health and social services,' says Belinda Scott, CEO of Djerriwarrh Health Service.
'By coming together under one roof, services will be better linked up and deliver better, safer care as health professionals can easily work together to improve local health and wellbeing,' adds Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos.
Funded by the Victorian Government and a first of its type in the state, the new centre features private and group consulting rooms, a training and assessment area, and staff work areas. Construction was completed in September 2018 through the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority in partnership with Djerriwarrh Health Services.
