New Footscray Hospital and Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre projects win National Infrastructure Awards

The New Footscray Hospital and Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre project teams have both taken home awards at the National Infrastructure Awards 2022.

The New Footscray Hospital Project team won the Government Partnerships Excellence category, while the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre won the Operator and Service Provider Excellence category.

The National Infrastructure Awards celebrate individual and organisation achievements considered critical in driving infrastructure forward across the country. The award program is convened by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and overseen by an independent judging panel.

Government Partnerships Excellence category - New Footscray Hospital Project team

The Government Partnerships Excellence award recognises the New Footscray Hospital Project team for the strong relationships the team has built with project partners from Western Health and the Plenary Group consortium.

This is the second award the New Footscray Hospital Project has claimed this year, after winning gold in the GOV Design Awards 2022 for its virtual engagement room.

'It’s a wonderful outcome for the project team', said Tina Skliros, Director, Public Private Partnerships at the Victorian Health Building Authority, who accepted the Government Partnerships Excellence award on behalf of the New Footscray Hospital Project team.

'The awards are well deserved recognition of all the teams across all sides who have contributed to the delivery of this significant project, as well as the strong relationships we have built with our partners from Western Health to the entire Plenary Group consortium.'

About the new Footscray Hospital

The new Footscray Hospital will support the increasing demand from Melbourne's booking western suburbs, ensuring families can get the care they need close to home.

Construction is underway with the new hospital set to open in 2025.

Operator and Service Provider Excellence category: Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre

The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre project team, contract administration team and project partners were also recognised. They won the Operator and Service Provider Excellence award for their demonstrated excellence in delivering the ongoing service phases of the project.

About the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre

The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) opened in July 2016. It is Australia’s first facility conceived and designed to save lives by connecting the world’s best in cancer research, education, treatment and care.

The centre is part of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct.
