New maternity unit now open in Bacchus Marsh

More women will be able to give birth closer to home now that the expansion of the Bacchus Marsh and Melton Regional Hospital is complete.

Funded by the Victorian Government’s $250 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the $1.59 million expansion and refurbishment of the maternity services unit has increased the hospital’s capacity from 11 to 15 post-delivery maternity beds.

This means Djerriwarrh Health Services can now deliver up to 1,200 births a year and provide the best possible care in state-of-the-art facilities for the growing needs of the Bacchus Marsh and Melton communities. The expanded maternity unit also features better nurse stations, a new three-bay nursery and upgraded delivery suites to improve care and comfort for mothers and babies.

The Victorian Government’s investment in Bacchus Marsh and Melton Regional Hospital doesn’t stop there, with a further $9 million allocated to two new operating theatres for surgeries and the expansion and refurbishment of existing operating theatres that will be re-fitted with the latest technology and medical equipment.
