The new Point Cook Community Hospital will be a small public hospital providing a range of integrated community health and specialist services. This will give the local community greater access to ‘everyday’ health services, closer to home.
Strong links to specialists, community health providers and social support services will improve follow-up treatment and support for those requiring complex care.
Operated by Western Health, it’s part of the Victorian Government’s $675 million investment to deliver 10 community hospitals in major growth areas.
The project will help take pressure off Werribee Mercy, Footscray, and Sunshine hospitals. This assists major hospitals to focus on critical care, emergencies and more complex surgeries and procedures.
Construction is expected to start in 2022 and be completed in 2024.
