Construction has started on the 50-bed Rutherglen aged care facility.
The design will create a safe and comfortable home for residents in Victoria’s north-east.
Residents will enjoy:
- private single rooms with ensuites
- an environment that promotes dignity and independence
- a community room
- common areas to encourage social interaction
- activities between residents, families and the community.
They will also benefit from plenty of natural light and views of the landscaped gardens.
The dementia-friendly environments also help residents to ‘age in place’. This means they can stay close to their loved ones, even as their care needs increase. For those living in regional areas, this is particularly important.
We are delivering the project in partnership with Indigo North Health and Zauner Construction (builder).
Construction is due to be completed in 2025.

Regional and Rural Public Sector Residential Aged Care Revitalisation Strategy
The Rutherglen aged care facility is part of the first stage of the Victorian Government’s Regional and Rural Public Sector Aged Care Revitalisation Strategy to modernise ageing facilities.
This strategy will update existing aged care facilities or build new ones in regions that need them most.
