Works begin on Ararat’s new community health hub

A ‘one stop shop’ that brings together a range of vital community health and family services all under one roof – that’s the exciting future Ararat locals can look forward to with new construction works underway.

Funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the $4.1 million project sited at East Grampians Health Service will include new consulting rooms, facilities for maternal and child health services, community meeting rooms and a bigger toy and activity library. Expanded waiting areas, a new reception and front entry are also in the project scope.

For community health professionals serving the local area, the new centre will deliver the modern and efficient facilities they need to work collaboratively together, while also making health and wellbeing services easier to access for their clients. In 2017/18, East Grampians Health Service will receive $20.744 million in funding from the Victorian Government.

This is $1.247 million – or 6.4 per cent – more than was provided the previous financial year. The $200 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is dedicated to rebuilding rural and regional hospitals to ensure all Victorians can access the high quality care and facilities they need, no matter where they live.
