About the survey

We asked to hear from you on some of the key family and outdoor spaces in the redeveloped hospital. What would help to make your experience at Warrnambool Base Hospital a calm, safe and welcoming one?

We invited you to have your say to help us shape this significant investment for Warrnambool, so we can deliver the best outcomes for you, your family and your community.

Community feedback will be shared with the project architect, with the opportunity for input to be reflected in the design of the redevelopment.

About the Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment

The redevelopment will transform services at the hospital, giving Victoria’s south west community access to world-class healthcare facilities, close to home.

The redevelopment will deliver:

• a new multi-storey hospital tower
• a bigger emergency department
• more operating theatres
• an additional 22 inpatient beds
• dedicated areas for pathology services, medical imaging and dialysis
• a 120-space basement car park for patients and visitors.

With more families choosing to make Warrnambool home, a dedicated paediatric unit will provide specialised care to children and young people.

The project will be delivered in three main stages:

• Construction of the new, offsite  Regional Logistics Distribution Centre is expected to begin in late 2022.
• Early works are scheduled to begin onsite at the hospital in early 2023. This will free up space at the hospital for the new multi-storey hospital tower to be built.
• Main works, including the construction of the new multi-storey hospital tower, are set to start in mid 2024.

Next steps

The survey closed at 9am on Wednesday 21 September 2022.

We will review and analyse the feedback received and report back to you on what we heard in early 2023.

Your responses will be considered as part of the design process, with detailed designs expected to be released in early 2023.
