Architect appointed to design $112 million expansion of the Angliss Hospital

Architectural firm Silver Thomas Hanley will design the $112 million expansion of the Angliss Hospital in Upper Ferntree Gully.

A new multi-storey building will deliver:

  • a new 32-bed inpatient unit
  • four operating theatres
  • a new central sterile supply department
  • spaces for outpatient services.

The expansion will significantly increase surgery capacity and capabilities at the hospital. This means less time on waiting lists, and better access to world-class healthcare for families in Knox and the Yarra Ranges.

Site preparation works are expected to begin in late 2022 with construction starting in late 2023. During construction, the project is expected to create and sustain approximately 330 construction industry jobs.

The expansion is expected to be complete in 2025.

Angliss Hospital has undergone a range of developments and expansions, including the $20 million Angliss Hospital new intensive care unit and short stay unit project that was completed in October 2018.
