Submissions open for $320 million in grants for Melbourne and regional hospitals and health services

More support for Victorian hospitals, community health services and agencies is now available through our 2020-21 grant programs, funded by the Victorian Government.

These programs provide vital government funding to eligible public hospitals, health services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations across Victoria, so they continue to provide safe and efficient care to local communities.

Submissions are now open for the following 2020-21 funding rounds:

  • $200 million Metropolitan Heath Infrastructure Fund – Round 1
  • $120 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund – Round 5

Submissions for both funding rounds close at 5.00 pm on 31 March 2021.

Metropolitan Health Infrastructure Fund - Round 1

Established in the 2020-21 State Budget, the new $200 million Metropolitan Health Infrastructure Fund provides grants to hospitals, health services and agencies across Melbourne to improve service capacity, efficiency and deliver contemporary models of care.

The fund provides grants to eligible applicants for:

  • construction, remodelling and refurbishment projects
  • equipment - including standalone furniture, fittings, medical equipment, engineering infrastructure and plant
  • information and communications technology
  • new technologies - including systems to reduce usage and increase efficiencies of power and/or water
  • compliance-related capital and/or upgrade works.

Regional Health Infrastructure Fund - Round 5

An additional $120 million for Round 5 of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund was also announced in this year’s 2020-21 State Budget to assist rural and regional health services and agencies across Victoria to continue providing safe and efficient care to local communities.

The fund provides grants to eligible applicants for:

  • construction, remodelling and refurbishment projects
  • equipment - including standalone furniture, fittings, medical equipment, engineering infrastructure and plant
  • information and communications technology
  • new technologies - including systems to reduce usage and increase efficiencies of power and/or water.

The Regional Health Infrastructure Fund has provided funding to more than 380 health infrastructure projects across Victoria.

Round 5 funding will take the total value of the fund to $470 million, making it the largest program of its type in Victoria.
