Infrastructure upgrades for Wonthaggi

Wonthaggi patients can look forward to getting the surgery they need sooner after a funding boost from the Victorian Government for critical infrastructure upgrades at Wonthaggi Hospital.

Bass Coast Health will receive more than $1.9 million to use for five infrastructure upgrade projects at Wonthaggi Hospital that will improve the quality and safety of facilities for patients, visitors and staff.

The upgrades include a new emergency lift, five air handling units in patient care areas and new body protection for electrical wiring, as well as replacing medical air compressors and installation of back-up systems and a new fire panel system.

The infrastructure upgrades will benefit the local community by enabling doctors to meet increasing demand for surgical services, and reduce cancellations by expanding capacity.

The funding is through the Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, and comes on top of $3 million previously provided to Bass Coast Health for other infrastructure and medical equipment upgrades
