A new multi-million-dollar emergency department at Swan Hill District Health is now under construction.
The new $65.7 million project will double the treatment spaces. The new emergency department will replace the old one and provide a new:
- four-bed short stay unit
- isolation room
- behavioural assessment room.
The new modern design will increase patient privacy and create a welcoming space. It will also create an efficient working environment for staff. Large waiting areas mean people can access emergency care quicker.
These new features will help ensure the hospital can meet locals' health needs now and into the future.
AW Nicholson is building the new emergency department. The project will create around 145 jobs during peak construction.
It is expected to be completed by early 2025, with the balance of works to be completed by early 2026.
